    Capturing the Action: Bullet-Time Photography.

Super slow motion would be relied on heavily in the stylization of the action scenes in “The Matrix,” but certain moments in the script called for something special. These scenes required dynamic camera movement around slow-motion events that approached 12,000 frames per second. The Wachowskis called it “bullet-time photography.”

    Does time slow in crisis?

In The Matrix, hero Neo wins his battles when time slows in the simulated world. In the real world, accident victims often report a similar slowing as they slide unavoidably into disaster. But can humans really experience events in slow motion?

    Laboratory for Perception and Action.

The long range goal of our lab is to understand how the brain constructs perception, how different brains do so differently, and how this matters for society. Our three main prongs involve time perception, synesthesia, and neurolaw.
